Our Mission

The Semliki Chimpanzee Project' mission is to engage in research on the chimpanzees of Semliki, particularly their adaptation to Semliki's dry habitat and the relevance of their behavior to the evolution of bipedalism, and to preserve the chimpanzees and their habitat in perpetuity.  Although we focus on the community in the riverine forests of the Mugiri River, our mission extends to conservation of the entire reserve.
